The wine is made from Saperavi grapes grown in the village of Akhasheni, in the Papari Valley, in Qvevri, using the traditional Kakhuri method. It is characterized by a very intense cherry color with a violet tint. Aromas of ripe berries, forest cover and meat are pronounced. It is an extractive and structured wine. It has a full body, fleshy tannins, ripe berry tones and a long finish. It is a high-alcohol wine, which causes pleasant sensations of warmth and heat on the palate.
Decanting is preferred before serving. There may be a small amount of sediment in the bottle. Has the potential to age in bottles. Goes well with beef or pork dishes, mushroom risotto, French dish Beef Bourguignon.
